Box Score New Lenox, Ill. - DePauw held an early 2-1 lead, but Beloit scored five straight and 10 of the next 11 and handed the Tigers an 11-7 defeat at Lincoln-Way West High School. The Tigers dropped to 3-6, while the Buccaneers improved to 2-7.
Nick Woerner gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead just 3:29 into the contest on an assist from Steen Jorgensen. Beloit tied the game midway through the first period before Austin MacDonald gave the Tigers a 2-1 advantage with 4:34 left in the opening stanza.
The Buccaneers added two more in the quarter before outscoring the Tigers, 3-0, in the second for a 6-2 halftime lead.
Andrew Wright scored with 11:13 left in the third to trim the deficit to 6-3, but Beloit scored the final three goals of the third and added two more in the fourth to take an 11-3 lead with four minutes left.
DePauw scored four times in the final 3:31 as Wright, Matthew Dauw, Sam Alkema and MacDonald each tallied scores.
MacDonald and Wright each scored a pair for the Tigers, while Ed Smith led Beloit with three. Joe Musto recorded eight saves for DePauw with Beloit's Trevor Kenahan stopping 14 DePauw shots.
The Buccaneers outshot DePauw 36-32 and held a 47-30 edge in ground balls, while winning 11 of the 21 faceoffs. donny Bleifuss had five ground balls for the Tigers, while Kenahan and Jake Wallace each had nine for Beloit.
DePauw returns to North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, April 6, when it travels to Wabash.
