Men's Tennis

No. 33 Tigers hold off No. 37 Kohawks

The men's tennis team won a tight contest Saturday between a pair of top-40 teams in Division III as DePauw defeated Coe College 6-3.

The No. 33 Tigers improved to 7-8 overall, while No. 37 Coe dropped to 16-4.

DePauw got off to a 2-1 start after doubles play. Dan Rodefeld and Alec Kaczkoswki won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, but the No. 2 doubles team of John Daseke and Patrick Farrell lost 8-6. At No. 3 doubles, Harold Martin and Nate Wallace came back from a 3-6 deficit to win 9-7.

Coe took the next two points at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles, but DePauw had the first set advantage for the remaining 3-6 singles matches, which they all eventually took.

Alec Kaczkowski tied it at 3-3 with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Harold Martin then won at No. 6 singles 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 to give DePauw a slight 4-3 advantage.

Matt Santen then gave the Tigers' the team win with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) victory at No. 4 singles. Finally, Greg Frauenheim gave the Tigers' another three set win at No. 5 singles 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

The Tigers return to action Wednesday when they host Wabash in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup.
