Box Score Wooster, Ohio – The DePauw men's lacrosse team looked to upset Wooster on Saturday but lost 14-8 after holding a 6-4 lead at halftime.
The win moved the Fighting Scots to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while DePauw dropped to 4-7 and 1-3 in the conference.
After Wooster opened up play with two goals, DePauw responded with three of their own from Steen Jorgensen (9:37), Matthew Dauw (4:41) and Grant Skipper (4:26). Wooster scored with six seconds remaining in the first period to tie it up.
Wooster took a 4-3 lead early in the second period before DePauw again rallied for three unanswered goals. Sam Alkema (11:17), Jorgensen (2:37) and Nick Woerner scored with a second remaining in the half to give the Tigers a 6-4 lead.
The teams traded goals to start the third with Josh Herold scoring for Wooster and Woerner scoring for the Tigers. That, however, began a rough stretch for the Tigers as Wooster scored the remaining six goals of the period and eight unanswered goals.
Wooster went up 13-7 before DePauw's next score as Jack Gomez scored with 5:48 remaining in the game.
Jorgensen ended up with two goals and two assists. Ben Sherman and Austin MacDonald also recorded an assist.
Connor Patterson took the loss in net, making 12 saves. Wooster outshot the Tigers 47-31, won 20-of-25 face offs and won the ground ball advantage 56-34.
DePauw returns to action Wednesday when they host Wittenberg.
