Whittier, Calif. – The Tigers could not cap off their California trip with a win on Wednesday, falling to Elmhurst 8-7.

Andrew Wright scored four goals, including the opening goal seconds into what would end up being a close game throughout. Unfortunately for the Tigers, that would be their only lead of the game as Elmhurst scored three unanswered goals.

Wright and Buck Dorger scored in the second period to keep DePauw close 5-3 at the half. The Tigers made it even more interesting in the third with another goal from Wright and a shutout from the defense.

But Elmhurst took their 5-4 lead and opened it up with two more goals. However, DePauw responded with two of their own from Wright and Steen Jorgensen. Jorgensen's goal came via an assist from Sam Alkema.

Elmhurst scored 19 seconds later to go up 8-6, but DePauw was credited with an own goal 30 seconds later. Both teams were held scoreless for the final 4:30 as Elmhurst took the win.

Joe Musto took the loss in net for the Tigers. He made 12 saves.

Elmhurst won the ground ball advantage 29-24 and won the faceoff battle 10-8. The Tigers outshot Elmhurst 37-36.

It was the Tigers' third straight loss and their record now sits at 3-4. They return to action Saturday at Denison in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup.
