Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - Eleven different DePauw players scored as the Tigers evened their season record at 1-1 with a 13-3 win over visiting Kalamazoo at Reavis Stadium. The Hornets suffered a loss in the program's first game.
Drew Monroe and Sam Alkema each scored in the first period to give DePauw a 2-0 lead before the Hornets' Zach Morales got his team on the board with 9:10 left in the first half. Nick Woerner gave the Tigers a 3-1 advantage as the teams headed to the intermission.
Kalamazoo's Brett Fitzgerald scored just 1:04 into the third, but DePauw scored three straight to extend the lead to 6-2. After the Hornets scored late in the third, the Tigers' depth resulted in a strong of seven-straight fourth-quarter goals.
Matthew Dauw and Woerner each scored two for the Tigers with Dauw and Lewis Andrews each assisting on a pair. Grant Skipper recorded a team-high six ground balls and helped the Tigers win 14 of the 20 faceoffs.
Three different Kalamazoo players collected one goal each with Clapton Marquis tacking on an assist. Zack Ladd led the way with seven ground balls.
Joe Musto recorded six saves for the Tigers, while Michael Dutcher totaled 13 for Kalamazoo.
DePauw outshot the Hornets, 39-22 and had 32 turnovers to Kalamazoo's 35.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, March 5, when they travel to Cornell College for a 1 p.m. CST contest.
