Tigers Shut Out Quakers

The DePauw men's tennis team improved to 4-1 on the young season with a clean 9-0 sweep over Earlham on Wednesday.

The doubles teams set the tone as John Daseke and Patrick Farrell won in straight games in the No. 2 doubles flight 8-0. Nate Wallace and Harold Martin followed with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles before Alec Kaczkowski and Dan Rodefeld won at No. 1 doubles 8-6.

Kaczkowski and Rodefeld held a 7-2 advantage before finally closing Earlham out.

It was the same story in the singles flights as each DePauw player won in straight sets. Rodefeld won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-3, Farrell won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Kaczkowski won at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0.

Matt Santen and Greg Frauenheim got in on the action with wins at No. 4 singles and No. 5 singles respectively. Santen won 6-3, 6-3, and Frauenheim picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Finally, Martin picked up a decisive 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 6 singles flight.

The Tigers will get a short break and will not be in action again until March 5 when they play Chicago.
