Chicago, Ill. - DePauw wrapped up the second day of competition at University of Chicago's Phoenix Fall Classic in second place with 315 points. The Tigers trail only Chicago which has 526.5 points. Olivet Nazarene is third with 314.
Angela Newlon broke another pool record and notched an NCAA "B" cut after winning the 500-yard freestyle in 4:51.88. She broke her own record of 4:53.43 which she set in the prelims. Newlon also picked up a third-place finish in the 200 fly in 2:08.19.
Mary Woods picked up a fourth in the 200 individual medley after touching in 2:11.32 with Annie Graves finishing eighth in 2:13.98.
Woods came back to place third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.94 before Kirsten Olson placed fourth in the 200 backstroke in 2:07.68 followed by Kara DeLong in eighth in 2:10.82.
Olivia Neff paced the Tigers in the 100 free after finishing fifth in 53.54 seconds, while Allison Lund was right behind, in sixth, in 53.62.
DePauw's 200 medley relay of Lund, Jamie Fritsch, Neff and Ellen Riehle was fourth in 1:50.76, while the 800 free relay of Woods, Shleby Whitt, Olson and Newlon was second in 7:44.23.
The three-day meet wraps up on Sunday.
