Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Augustana outscored DePauw 7-1 over the final six minutes of the first half on the way to a 21-9 win over the Tigers at Reavis Stadium. DePauw dropped to 5-6 with the loss, while the Vikings improved to 10-1.
The Tigers scored the game's first goal as Carey Kunz found the back of the net just 2:15 into the contest and DePauw still trailed by just one at 4-3 after Taylor Summers scored on an assist from Nicole Gibson with 11:29 remaining in the half.
Augustana then took control with four goals in a 1:40 stretch as the Vikings extended the lead to 11-4 at the intermission.
Summers, Emma Flynn and Abigail Snively each scored for the Tigers in the opening four minutes of the second half to trim the lead to 11-7, but the Vikings scored the next four and nine of the next 10 to put the game away.
Summers paced DePauw with three goals, while Flynn and Kunz each scored a pair. Hilary Kargl led Augustana with six goals, while Olivia Mayer followed with four. Emily Handrahan and Anne Hopkins added three goals apiece. Handrahan assisted on four in the win.
Liz Hawkins recorded 11 saves in goal for the Tigers, while Jenna Hofmann totaled seven for Augustana.
The Vikings outshot DePauw 42-19 including 32-16 on goal. Augustana also held a 23-16 edge in ground balls and 20-12 in draw controls. The Vikings were 12-of-17 in clears with DePauw successfully clearing 8-of-16 opportunities. The Tigers totaled 21 turnovers to Augustana's 12 with the guests converting 2-of-7 free-position shots, while DePauw was 0-of-2.
DePauw hosts Wittenberg on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m., while Augustana faces Wittenberg at Reavis Stadium tomorrow at 7 p.m.
