Gambier, Ohio - DePauw opened North Coast Athletic Conference Championship play today with a 5-0 quarterfinal win over Wooster.
The 33rd-ranked Tigers improved to 11-10 and face Denison in tomorrow's 4 p.m. semifinal match after the Big Red defeated Allegheny 5-1. The Fighting Scots dropped to 9-10.
DePauw's number-two doubles team of Chris Bertolini and Dan Rodefeld put the Tigers on the board first with an 8-3 win over Harrison Suttle and Willy Nelson and the first tandem of Alec Kaczkowski and Eric Vannatta were 8-4 winners over Titas Bera and Jack Buchan. The Tigers' third team of Patrick Ferrell and Harold Martin completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 triumph over Milo Sauman and Davis Elkins.
Kaczkowski topped Suttle by a 6-0, 6-3 score at second singles before Farrell wrapped up the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Buchan at the fourth spot.
