Tigers Cruise to 13-0 Victory

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw men's lacrosse team easily defeated Cornell College 13-0, Monday night at Reavis Stadium.

The win marked the first shutout in the Tigers' history and their first victory at Reavis stadium. DePauw improved to 2-3 on the year, while the Rams dropped to 1-1.

Kyle Roberts kicked off the scoring for DePauw, netting an unassisted goal just 50 seconds into the first. Sam Alkema notched an unassisted goal with 4:20 left, putting the Tigers up 2-0.

Andrew Wright tallied DePauw's third goal with 10:03 in the second. The Tigers would take a 3-0 lead into the locker room.

In the third period, DePauw netted seven goals to seal the victory. Roberts netted his second goal on an assist from Nick Woerner with 13:26 remaining. Alkema added an unassisted goal followed by Woerner tacking on a goal at the 5:28 mark.

Wright would add his second goal on an unassisted strike with 4:35 left in the third. Ben Sherman took a pass from Wright and fired in the Tigers' 8th goal just 11 seconds later. Jack Roberts got in on the action with 3:49 on an unassisted goal, while Sherman closed out DePauw's third period scoring with an unassisted goal at the 1:52 mark.

Alkema scored his third goal of the contest with 10:40 left in the fourth on an assist from Sherman. Grant Skipper netted his first goal of the season with 5:21 remaining, while Alkema wrapped up DePauw's scoring with 56 seconds left on an assist from Sherman.

The Tigers held a 47-22 shot advantage and were successful on 21-of-25 clears. Skipper won 13-of-16 faceoffs, while Roberts had a game-high six ground balls. Joe Musto earned his first collegiate win in goal, collecting eight saves, while Evan Kedjidjian had 12 saves in a losing effort.

Both teams committed five penalties in the contest. The Tigers tallied three penalty minutes, while Cornell tallied five.

DePauw is back in action Wednesday, March 11, when they host Millsaps for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
