Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw women's lacrosse team grabbed its first win of 2015 in dominant fashion, defeating Trine 21-2, at Reavis Stadium on Friday night.
The Tigers improved to 1-1 overall, while the Thunder fell to 0-1 on the year.
Emma Flynn netted six goals to lead all scorers and Emily Scinta added a game-high four assists. In total, 10 players scored for DePauw, including Maryclaire Heldring (3), Scinta (2), Taylor Summers (2), Nicole Gibson (2), Elizabeth McCracken (2), Mary White, Emilye Denny, Alex Boesel and Abigail Snively.
Boesel, Gibson and Heldring were all successful on free-position shots for the Tigers. Denny, Carey Kunz, Boesel, Gibson, Heldring, Flynn and Summers also added one assist each.
Goalie Liz Hawkins made four saves, improving her record to 1-1 on the year.
Trine was led by Taylor Gast and Hunter Johnson who each tallied a goal. Grace Garrett made nine saves in a losing effort.
DePauw held a 16-6 advantage on ground balls and won 20-of-24 draw controls. The Tigers outshot Trine 33-8 and were successful on all three clear attempts, while the Thunder were successful on 5-of-6 clears.
The Tigers are back in action Thursday, March 12, when they host Benedictine (Ill.) for a 6:00 p.m. contest at Reavis Stadium.
