Box Score Holland, Mich. - DePauw held Hope scoreless for the first 35 minutes and never trailed on the way to a 10-6 win over the Flying Dutchmen. The Tigers improved to 4-5 and surpassed last year's win total of three. Hope fell to 2-5.
The Tigers led 3-0 at halftime on the strength of goals by Trent Porterfield, Nick Woerner and Andrew Wright. Ben Sherman's score in the opening three minutes of the third period gave DePauw a 4-0 advantage. DePauw led by as many as six at 9-3 and Hope got no closer than three the rest of the way.
Sheman and Wright each scored three for the Tigers, while Grant Skipper had 10 ground balls and Kyle Roberts six. Grant Brogan paced Hope with three goals and Gunnar Elder added a pair with Ryan Vander Ploeg leading the way with five ground balls.
Joe Musto totaled eight saves for DePauw, while Joey Williams had six for Hope and Seth McCall two.
DePauw held a 37-31 edge in shots and a 35-30 advantage in ground balls and won 10 of the 19 faceoffs.
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, April 2, with a 5 p.m. North Coast Athletic Conference contest with Wabash at Reavis Stadium.
