Box Score Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin scored three times in the opening three minutes and DePauw couldn't recover as the Yeowomen handed the Tigers a 12-5 North Coast Athletic Conference defeat. DePauw dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the NCAC, while Oberlin improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Oberlin scored just seven seconds into the contest and held as much as a 6-0 lead in the first half. Nicole Gibson put the Tigers on the board with 10:10 remaining, but the Yeowomen held a 7-1 lead at the break.
Taylor Summers and Carey Kunz scored for DePauw early in the second half to cut the lead to 7-3, but Oberlin scored twice to make it 9-3 with 12:18 remaining.
Kunz, Gibson, Summers, Emily Scinta and Emma Flynn each scored one for the Tigers with Gibson adding an assist.
Grace Barlow led the Yeowomen with three goals, while Sydney Garvis, Sara Phister and Kate Hanick each scored two. Six different Oberlin players collected one assist apiece.
Liz Hawkins had 14 saves for the Tigers, while Alexa L'Insalata had 15 for Oberlin.
Oberlin outshot the Tigers 32-24 and held a 31-22 advantage in ground balls as well as 10-7 in draw controls. The Yeowomen had 20 turnovers to DePauw's 17. The Tigers connected on 2-of-7 free position shots, while Oberlin was 1-of-3.
DePauw faces Berry College on Wednesday in a contest played at Sewanee.
