Box Score Kenosha, Wis. - DePauw took a 7-5 halftime lead, but host Carthage outscored the Tigers 8-4 in the second half for a 13-11 win. The Tigers dropped to 2-2 with the loss, while the Lady Reds improved to 4-2.
Carthage took a 4-2 lead in the opening half, but the Tigers responded with three straight and five of the final six to grab a 7-5 lead at the break. The Lady Reds struck for four scores in the opening 11 minutes of the second half to take a 9-7 lead.
DePauw countered with three straight to regain the advantage at 10-9. Carthage, however, scored twice in a 20-second span to take an 11-10 lead. The Lady Reds expanded that margin to 13-10 with a pair of free-position goals before the Tigers added a score in the final two minutes.
Carey Kunz, Emma Flynn and Taylor Summers each scored two for the Tigers, while Nicole Gibson assisted on four goals.
Rachel Mussell paced Carthage with four goals, while Madison Griffin added three and Shannon Long two.
Liz Hawkins recorded 10 saves in goal for DePauw, while Taylor Sopron had four for Carthage.
Carthage outshot DePauw, 28-22, and held a 14-12 edge in draw controls as well as 18-14 in ground balls. DePauw committed 14 turnovers to 12 for the Lady Reds.
Carthage also capitalized on 5-of-12 free position shots, while DePauw was 2-of-6.
DePauw travels to Oberlin for an 11 a.m. North Coast Athcontest on Saturday, March 21.
