Mequon, Wis. - DePauw built up a five-goal lead over host Concordia (Wis.) and then withstood a late charge by the Falcons and held on for a 12-11 win. The Tigers improved to 2-1, while Concordia dropped to 1-1.

DePauw wasted little time in getting on the board as Carey Kunz scored just 1:16 into the contest and then, 49 seconds later she assisted Nicole Gibson. By the midpoint of the half, the Tigers built a 5-1 lead on the way to an 8-4 halftime advantage.

Emma Flynn's scored off of Abigail Snively's pass gave DePauw an 11-6 lead with 16:34 left in the second half. 

The Falcons scored a couple of goals in a 1:33 span to cut the margin to 11-8 before Snively scored at the 10:50 mark. Concordia's Allison Kurek countered on a free position shot at 10:33 and the Falcons added a pair of short-handed goals with the last coming with 1:58 left.

Concordia had a free position opportunity with just over one minute left, but DePauw goalie Liz Hawkins saved it and preserved the victory.

Flynn scored five for the Tigers, while Kunz and Snively added two goals apiece. Elizabeth McCracken led with four assists. Amanda McKay, Sammi Reiter, Emily Heckendorf and Hayley Peppers each scored two for the Falcons.

Hawkins totaled 12 saves in the win and Concordia's Rebecca David had 10 stops.

Concordia outshot the Tigers, 38-26, and held a 16-9 edge in draw controls. The Falcons also led in ground balls, 48-38, and connected on 3-of-6 free position shots to DePauw's 0-1. DePauw was successful on 20-33 clears with Corcordia finishing 14-20.

DePauw travels to Carthage for a 1 p.m. CST contest tomorrow with the Lady Reds.
