Box Score Gambier, Ohio - DePauw entered the fourth period at Kenyon with a one-goal deficit, but the host Lords outscored the Tigers, 3-0, in the final stanza take a 10-6 North Coast Athletic Conference victory.
The Tigers dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC, while the Lords improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Kenyon took a 2-0 lead before Kyle Roberts' goal as time expired in the opening period cut the margin in half. Sam Alkema evened the count in the opening minute of the second period, but the Lords scored the final two of the half to take a 4-2 lead.
The Tigers stayed within a goal at 4-3, 5-4, 6-5 and 7-6, but Kenyon kept the Tigers off the board in the final period for the win.
Alkema paced DePauw with two goals, while Nick Lenard and Alex Lopez had three each for Kenyon. Pierce Kraft, Lenard and Fritz Waine each totaled two assists. Gran t Skipper won 11 faceoffs and led DePauw with five ground balls. Patrick Shevelson and Jack Fraser each finished with four ground balls for Kenyon.
Joe Musto collected seven saves for DePauw in the opening half, while Zach Taylor came off the bench for five over the final 30 minutes. Shevelson finished with 13 stops for the Lords.
Kenyon held a 41-32 advantage in shots, but the Tigers led in ground balls, 36-31. The Tigers also won 11 of the 18 faceoffs, but committed 24 turnovers to Kenyon's 15. The Lords capitalized on 1-of-4 extra-man opportunities to DePauw's 1-of-7.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, March 21, in a 3 p.m. CDT contest at Sewanee.
