Greencastle, Ind. - The 24th-ranked Tigers opened the spring portion of its schedule with a 9-0 win over visiting Principia at the DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center.
The Tigers swept the doubles competition and only lost five points as Chris Bertolini and Dan Rodefeld defeated Joey Sander and Nate Waters at the first flight by an 8-3 score and the number-two tandem of Patrick Farrell and Harold Martin were 8-3 winners over Jason Wissman and Daniel Drake. Eric Vannatta and Alec Kaczkowski blanked Andrew Rohrer and Nick Flanders, 8-0.
DePauw dropped just one set in singles as Bertolini defeated Wissman 6-0, 6-1 at the first spot and Rodefeld was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Sander at number two. Farrell topped Waters 6-1, 6-0 at the third flight with Vannatta needing three sets to defeat Drake 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (14-12).
Rico Lumanlan was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Rohrer at five singles and Martin topped Flanders 6-0, 6-1 at sixth singles.
DePauw returns to the courts on Sunday, February 15, when it hosts fifth-ranked Washington-St. Louis and #25 Wisconsin-Whitewater.
