Doubles Sweep Not Enough for #23 Tigers in NCAC Title Loss to 11th-Ranked Kenyon

Granville, Ohio - DePauw opened with a doubles sweep in its North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship match with Kenyon, but the Lords rallied for five singles wins and the conference title with a 5-3 victory over the Tigers.

The 11th-ranked Lords improved to 18-7 and earned the conference's automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III Championship, while 23rd-ranked DePauw finished the regular season at 15-7 and will have to wait on a possible NCAA at-large berth that will be announced on Monday, May 5.

DePauw's top doubles team of Sam Miles and Ben Kopecky took an 8-6 win over Sam Geier and Tim Rosensteel to improve to 20-4 on the season, while the third duo of Patrick Ferrell and Harold Martin pushed the lead to 2-0 with a 9-8 (7-5) win over Tristan Kaye and Michael Roberts. The Tigers' number-two tandem of Eric Vannatta and Alec Kaczkowski completed the sweep with an 8-6 victory over Wade Herrboth and Colin Hass.

Kenyon came back with straight-set wins at first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth singles to claim the match and tournament title.

The Tigers' runner-up showing is its second straight.
