Tigers Pick Up Season's First NCAC Win

Box Score Springfield, Ohio - DePauw scored the final three goals of the second period and the first four of the third to pull away from Wittenberg on the way to a 14-8 North Coast Athletic Conference victory. The Tigers improved to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg dropped to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

DePauw jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening six minutes as Kai Coffee and Kaitlyn Bach each scored unassisted goals. Wittenberg responded with a pair of scores before Jessie Lyons put DePauw ahead, 3-2, early in the second. The host Tigers evened the count with 13:46 left in the half.

The Tigers closed the half with a pair of scores from Katie Jauchius sandwiching a goal from Underwood. Coffee scored twice in the first five minutes of the second half with Lyons and Underwood completing the run and giving DePauw a 10-3 lead. Wittenberg was no closer than six goals the rest of the way.

Coffee and Underwood each scored four goals for DePauw with Jauchius and Lyons finishing with two apiece. Meredith Buti assisted on four to lead the Tigers.

Aubrey Stager led Wittenberg with three goals, while Maren Raymond and Essence Wyse each had two. Jarya Hassell led with two assists.

Jauchius paced DePauw with four draw controls, while Ally Black caused three turnovers and had seven ground balls.

Stager and Alyssa Burnside finished with four draw controls each to lead Wittenberg with Wyse and Haley Pitman totaling causing two turnovers apiece. Wyse and Maggie Pickrel led with four ground balls each.

Niamh Callahan totaled nine saves in goal for DePauw with Makenna Ricketts finishing with eight stops.

DePauw held a 31-21 advantage in shots including a 15-12 edge in shots on goal. The Tigers led in draw controls, 11-9, and in ground balls, 23-19.

DePauw hosts Oberlin on Saturday, April 11, at 2:30 p.m.
