Greencastle, Ind. - Â The DePauw men's swimming and diving team dominated Franklin in their senior day dual-meet, 214.5-81.5.
The Tigers opened the evening with a statement in the 200-yard medley relay, securing first and second. DePauw's "A" quartet of Sam Wolfe, Tyler Farkas, Brady Hinshaw, and James Anderson set the tone with a 1:36.01, while the "B" relay followed close behind in 1:38.28 to give DPU their first 15-points of the meet.
Distance freestyle continued to build momentum, as freshman Andrew Thompson battled to a strong first-place finish in the 1000 free (10:16.83), with senior Alexander Bridgmohan right behind in third (10:35.57).Â
The Tigers carried that surge directly into the sprint events, where Sam Wolfe took first in the 100-backstroke (54.38) and the Tigers swept 100-breaststroke with Kai-Wen Minnich claiming first with a 1:01.51 finish. Minnich followed that effort with another second-place showing in the 200 breaststroke, clocking a 2:13.50.Â
DePauw continued to rack up points across the middle of the meet. Farkas won the 200 freestyle (1:44.97) and later added another first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.55). Cale Bennett contributed key points on the boards with third-place finishes in both the one meter dive (152.4) and the three meter dive (169.55).
The Tigers closed the meet strong in the relays, finishing first and second in the 200 freestyle relay as the team of Farkas, Adison Mayes, Wolfe, and Brady Hinshaw touched in at 1:26.41.Â
Daniel Schwendinger led the Tigers with three first-place finishes: 200-butterfly (1:57.50), 100-freestyle (48.24), and 200 individual medley (2:01.43) - accounting for 27 points in individual events.
Tyler Farkas and Andrew Thompson both walked away with two first-place finishes against the Grizzlies.Â
The Tigers now shift their focus to a dual-meet against WashU on Saturday, January 31st in Erdmann Natatorium.
