Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw men's swimming and diving team turned in a strong weekend at the 2025 Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational, showcasing competitive depth and consistent scoring across three days at Crawfordsville High School's Aquatic Center.
The Tigers finished first overall with 1,532Â points, topping Ohio Northern University (1,294 points), and Wabash College (1,126 points. Franklin, Manchester, and Anderson also trailed the Tigers.Â
DePauw opened the meet with momentum in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where the quartet of Tyler Farkas, James Anderson, Jake Anderson, and Brady Hinshaw clocked a 1:23.39 to take first. The Tigers' "B" relay added a fourth-place finish, positioning DePauw firmly in the early team race.
In the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Andrew Thompson led the Tigers with a strong third-place swim in 4:44.74, followed by Franco Chirinos in 8th at 4:53.24. Junior Tyler Farkas added a ninth-place finish (4:53.88) as all three Tigers secured A-final points.
The Tigers continued to add to their totals in the 200 individual medley, highlighted by Daniel Schwendinger's second-place finish in 1:53.90. Zach Posinski followed closely with a fourth-place finish at 1:57.32 and Kai-Wen Minnich finished ninth in 2:00.94Â to give DePauw another heavy-scoring event.
Sprint freestyle contributed another wave of points as Jake Anderson powered to second in the 50 free with a 21.09. Brady Hinshaw (21.26), James Anderson (21.62), Jeremy Stutzman (21.85), Sam Wolfe (21.91), and Ethan Williams Fonner (22.26) followed, placing three Tigers in the A-final and three more in the B-final to round out a deep showing.
DePauw carried its momentum into the final day with a strong swim in the 400-yard medley relay, where Hinshaw, Farkas, Schwendinger, and Wolfe combined for a second-place finish in 3:26.78, while the Tigers' "B" and "C" relays also landed inside the top seven, earning 104 points in a single event.Â
Brodie Morken made a huge impact on the board, taking first in the one-meter dive with a score of 377.25 and first in the three-meter dive with a score of 331.25. Cale Bennet followed in fourth with a 275.70 and second with 273. Together the two contributed 84 points on the diving boards. Â
The Tigers took first and fourth in the 200 medley relay, claiming three of the top ten relay times.Â
In the 400 individual medley, Zach Posinski took second-place in 4:14.45 with Will Delio (4:25.21) and Will Longfellow (4:29.43) following suit within the A-final.Â
Hinshaw, Anderson, and Vanhaaren claimed three of the top-five finishes in the 100 fly with Hinshaw finishing second in 51.51.
DePauw took second and fourth in the 800 free relay to give the team another 76 points with Farkas, Wolfe, Chirinos, and Schwendinger leading the pack on the "A" relay in 7:03.99.
Distance freestyle closed out the meet on a high note, as Andrew Thompson (16:13.77) and Alexander Bridgmohan (17:11.45) finished second and fifth in the 1,650 freestyle, Riley Richard (16:38.02) and Miles Popp (16:57.46) finished fourth and fifth in the 1,650 freestyle, adding a late surge of 37 points.
The Tigers swam five out of the top ten times in the 100 individual medley, tallying 83 points and giving the freshman the top three times on the team with Hinshaw, Schwendinger, and Anderson finishing second, fourth, and fifth.Â
Three in a row in the 200 breaststroke gave way from Posinski (3rd, 2:08.99), Farkas (4th, 2:09.33), and Minnich (5th, 2:11.33) to bring in another strong surge of points in the final events.Â
DePauw finished on a high note with Schwendinger winning the 200 fly in 1:53.48 along with four top-ten finishes in the 400 free relay spearheaded by Schwendinger, Wolfe, Hinshaw, and Farkas (3:07.22)
The Tigers now shift their focus toward the Denison Invitational, held December 4–6 in Granville, Ohio.
