Box Score 2 Auburndale, Fla. - DePauw and Ramapo squared off in a doubleheader as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational with Roadrunners sweeping the Tigers by scores of 3-0 and 7-2. DePauw dropped to 6-11 and Ramapo improved to 10-4.
In the opener, Ramapo scored a pair in the bottom of the first as Jack Tallent led off with a single and pinch-runner Weston Baronian later scored on Zach Novakowski's single. Novakowski came home on Jesse Swartout's single.
The only other run of the game came in the sixth when Novakowski blasted a leadoff homer.
The Tigers had two runners in scoring position with one out in the sixth but couldn't score either.
Three different DePauw players had one hit each, while Novakowski had two of the Roadrunners' six hits.
Jamison Lewis dropped to 1-4, while Nick Danbrowney improved to 1-0.
Ramapo scored three in the first inning of the nightcap as Matt Lalomia drove in Novakowski with a single before John Higgins doubled home Zack Bailey and Brandon Tauber plated Lalomia with a grounder.
DePauw countered with two in the second as
Nate Heflin drew a one-out walk and scored on
Nolan Whitehead's triple. Whitehead came home on
Tyler Walkey's sacrifice fly.
Bailey's fifth-inning double scored Robert Klawans and Higgins' single plated Novakowski and Bailey. Novakowski's solo homer in the sixth wrapped up the scoring.
Three different Tigers collected one hit each, while Novakowski had three of the Roadrunners' nine hits and Higgins finished with two.
Josh Heitert dropped to 0-1, while Dominick Ciani improved to 1-1 and Ryan Lasko recorded his second save.
DePauw returns to action tomorrow with a 9:15 a.m. game against Wisconsin-La Crosse.
