DePauw Drops NCAC Twinbill at Denison

Granville, Ohio - DePauw dropped to 8-12 overall and 1-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference after dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Denison by scores of 13-2 and 12-2. The Big Red improved to 13-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

In the opener, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the third as Tim Rommeney doubled with two outs and scored on Cameron Allen's single. DePauw loaded the bases after Cameron Macon singled and Kyle Callahan walked, but couldn't push across another run.

Denison plated three in the bottom of the third as Owen Wilson walked with one out and moved to second on a wild pitch. Eric Colaco doubled him home and later stole third before Ari Fierer walked. Charlie Glennon's sacrifice fly scored Colaco and Danny Alvarez followed with a double that scored Fierer.

Paul Jennewein drew a two-out walk in the DePauw fourth and scored when Danny Sheehan stole second after singling.

The Big Red scored six in the fourth and four in the fifth to extend their lead to 13-2 and wrap up the win in seven innings.

Six different Tigers collected one of DePauw's six hits, while Colaco and Alvarez each added two hits for the Big Red.

Will Lucas dropped to 2-1 with the loss, while Taylor Perrett improved to 4-1.

In game two, Denison scored in five of six innings with DePauw's two runs coming in the seventh as Ben Greiner and Ty Sucher singled before Brian May doubled to score both.

Nelson had two of DePauw's six hits, while Cameron Brickley had three of Denison's 13 hits and Fierer, Alvarez, Josh Bohn and Wilson each had two.

Dylan Perrott dropped to 1-2 and Kenny Lippman improved to 2-1.

DePauw hosts Oberlin in an NCAC doubleheader at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 10, which was originally scheduled for April 9.
