Box Score 2 Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw improved to 10-12 overall and 3-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Oberlin by scores of 7-3 and 16-10. The Yeomen dropped to 5-16 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
In the opener. Oberlin took a 1-0 lead in the first as Jake Freed was hit by a pitch with one out, moved to third on Jason Thompson's double and scored on a wild pitch. DePauw knotted the score at 1-1 as Evan Barnes drew a leadoff walk, moved to second on Cameron Allen's ground out and scored on Cameron Macon's double.
The Yeomen regained the lead in the fourth as Harry Kaplan walked with two outs and came home on Ryan Kaestle's double. Danny Glimco's leadoff homer in the bottom of the fourth evened the score at 2-2.
That score stood until the seventh when the Tigers scored five. Danny Sheehan and Barnes led off with singles before Brennan Roach drove in Sheehan with a single through the left side. Later in the frame, Kyle Callahan drove in two with a single and Glimco followed with a two-run single to make it 7-2.
Oberlin wrapped up the scoring with a single run in the ninth.
Michael Vallone improved to 6-0 after allowing just three hits, striking out 10 and walking just one in eight innings. Vince Dolcemaschio dropped to 1-3 for Oberlin.
Nick Nelson's double in the first inning of the second game scored Allen before the Yeomen evened the score in the second on Kaplan's RBI single that plated Chris Wolfe.
Callahan delivered a bases loaded double in the second which scored three and he later moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error on the play.
Oberlin took a 6-5 advantage with two in the fourth and three in the fifth before DePauw took control with a nine-run fifth. The inning included a two-run double by Roach, a two-run single from Cameron Macon, Brian May's RBI single and a bases loaded triple by Barnes to give DePauw a 14-6 lead.
The Yeomen closed the gap to 14-9 with one in the sixth and two in the seventh. Roach drove in May with a seventh-inning single before Oberlin added a single run in the eighth. Callahan's solo homer in the bottom of the eighth wrapped up the scoring.
Callahan and Barnes each had three of DePauw's 14 hits, while Roach added two. Chris Wolfe had four of Oberlin's 18 hits with Jake Blozy, Max Anastasio and Kaestle each adding three.
Griffin Albright improved to 1-2 with the relief win, while William Kennedy dropped to 0-3.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, April 13, with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Anderson.
