DePauw Erases Five-Run Deficit for Win at Rose-Hulman

Terre Haute, Ind. - Rose-Hulman scored three in the first and two in the second, but DePauw rallied with three in the third, four in the fourth and three more in the eighth for a 10-5 win over the Fightin' Engineers. The Tigers moved to 6-5, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 5-4.

The Engineers' Josh Mesenbrink clubbed a two-out solo homer in the first and Shane Garner followed that with a blast to left. After Colter Couillard-Rodak walked Manuel Lopez doubled him home to make it 3-0.

Adam Taylor singled with one out in the second and stole second before Mesenbrink hit his second homer of the contest to push the lead to 5-0.

DePauw reached the board in the third as Tim Rommeney singled with one out and moved to second when Cameron Allen reached on an error. Cameron Macon walked to load the bases before Kyle Callahan scored two with a single. Evan Barnes followed with an RBI single to trim the Rose-Hulman lead to 5-3.

The Tigers' Paul Jennewein singled with one out in the fourth and advanced to second on an error. Brennan Roach followed with a double that plated Jennewein. Roach moved to third on Allen's grounder before Macon walked and Callahan delivered a three-run homer.

Danny Sheehan and Jennewein each singled to start the eighth and Roach's sacrifice bunt advanced them one base before Allen drove them in with a double. Callahan's single plated Allen with the game's final run.

Callahan had three of DePauw's 10 hits, while Barnes and Jennewein each had two. Callahan finished with six RBI. Mesenbrink had two of the Engineers' seven hits.

Will Lucas improved to 2-0 after retiring the final 10 hitters he faced. Griffin Albright picked up his first save with four innings of one-hit, scoreless relief that included seven strikeouts. Josh Erpenbeck dropped to 0-1 with the loss.

DePauw travels to Maryville (Tenn.) for a three-game series that begins with a twinbill on Saturday, March 26.
