Offensive Surge Helps DePauw Secure Two Wins

Carbondale, Ill. - In its two Sunday games, DePauw totaled 41 runs and 41 hits and came away with a 16-0 win over Wilmington and a 25-7 victory against Blackburn. The Tigers are now 2-1 on the season.

In the opener, the teams played a scoreless first before DePauw scored four each in the second and third innings and eight more in the fifth.

Cameron Allen, Evan Barnes and Cameron Macon each had three of DePauw's 17 hits, while Kyle Callahan and Brian May had two apiece. Macon added a homer in the win.

Michael Vallone picked up the win for the Tigers after striking out nine in five innings. Nathan Fackel and Justin Pelley each added one inning of scoreless relief. Three Quakers had one hit each. Aaron Boster took the loss for Wilmington.

Against Blackburn, the Tigers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Beavers scored four in the bottom half of the frame. DePauw evened the count in the second and then blew the game open with 10 in the third and six in the fourth for a 20-4 lead.

Barnes and May each had four of DePauw's 24 hits with Macon adding three. Ben Greiner, Paul Jennewein and Eli Bell collected two each. Macon drove in five and had the Tigers' lone homer of the game and second of the day. Tyler Jackson had two of Blackburn's seven hits.

Will Lucas collected the win for the Tigers with Jackson taking the loss.

DePauw returns to the diamond on February 26 with games against Kalamazoo and Baldwin Wallace at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind.
