Tigers Place Two on All-NCAC Squad; Vallone Named Newcomer of the Year

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw outfielder Charlie Patrick (Sr., Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) and pitcher Michael Vallone (Fr., Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) have been selected to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference West Division Team and Vallone named the league's Newcomer of the Year.

Patrick batted .300 for the season and led the squad with 32 runs, 10 doubles and seven homers, while slugging a team-high .575. In NCAC contests, Patrick hit .333 with four homers and 12 RBI, while slugging .667. Patrick led the squad with 13 multiple-hit games.

Vallone posted a 3-2 overall record with a 5.26 earned run average with a team-best 56 strikeouts and just nine walks in 39 1/3 innings with opposing batters hitting only .215 against him. In NCAC contests he was 3-1 with a 3.09 ERA and struck out 30 with three walks in 23 1/3 innings. Opposing NCAC batters hit just .160 against him. He tossed a no-hitter in an 8-0 win at Wittenberg on April 14 and a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts in an April 2 win over Wabash.
