Tigers Finish NCAC Divisional Play with Sweep at Ohio Wesleyan

Delaware, Ohio - DePauw swept a North Coast Athletic Conference West Division doubleheader at Ohio Wesleyan by scores to 5-1 and 11-9 to improve to 15-18 overall and finish NCAC play at 8-8. The Battling Bishops dropped to 6-22 overall and 2-14 in NCAC play.

In the opener, Sam Paddock allowed just three singles in pitching the Tigers to the win. 

DePauw scored three in the first as Kyle Callahan led off by reaching on an error and scoring on Charlie Patrick's double. Danny Sheehan later drew a walk and TJ Carney-DeBord singled and an error on the play allowed both Patrick and Sheehan to score.

The Battling Bishops' lone run came in the third when Tyler Monaco doubled home C.J. Colson.

The Tigers wrapped up the scoring in the fourth as Carney-DeBord singled and moved to third on Kyle Boyer's double before Evan Barnes scored both with a single.

Carney-DeBord had two of DePauw's five hits, while Cole Antle had two of Ohio Wesleyan's three.

Paddock improved to 1-2 as he retired the final eight batters of the game and 14 of the final 15. Michael Lipscomb dropped to 0-5.

In the nightcap, DePauw battled back from a 7-3 deficit with five in the fifth and three in the sixth.

The Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first before the Battling Bishops scored three in the bottom half of the frame. DePauw evened the score at 3-3 with a single run in the third, but the hosts scored four in the bottom of the third on Zack Stiteler's grand slam. DePauw regained the lead in the fifth and expanded it in the sixth for the win.

Callahan had four of DePauw's 10 hits, while Jack Lee added two. Austin Harper, Antle and Edrick Padilla each had two of DePauw's 11 hits.

Cameron Hawk improved to 1-3 with two innings of scoreless relief and EJ White collected his second save. Heath Manson dropped to 0-1.

The team play a 1 p.m. non-conference game tomorrow in Delaware.
