Box Score 2 Crawfordsville, Ind. - DePauw traveled to Wabash for the final two games of its North Coast Athletic Conference West Division series with the Little Giants and Wabash swept the Tigers, 10-2 and 8-7 in an eight-inning contest. The Tigers droppped to 8-10 overall and 1-3 in the NCAC West Division, while Wabash improved to 10-8 overall and 3-1 in NCAC play.
In the opener, Wabash took a 1-0 lead in the third when Austin Simmers singled home Sean Smith and the Tigers matched that in the fourth as Danny Sheehan walked, stole second and scored on Evan Barnes' single to center.
Wabash blew the game open with four each in the fourth and fifth innings with the last three in the fifth coming on Smith's three-run homer.
DePauw got one back in the sixth when Sheehan led off with a triple and scored on Barnes' sacrifice fly. The Little Giants wrapped up the scoring with a single run in the sixth.
The Tigers totaled just four hits with four players collecting one each. Simmers had three of Wabash's 14 hits with Cole Vassilo, Canton Terry, Drew Prather and Smith each collecting two.
Tyler Dearing improved to 1-1, while Sam Paddock dropped to 0-1.
In the nightcap, DePauw jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Trey Shaw singled and Charlie Patrick delivered a two-run homer. Jack Fitzgerald's double in the third scored Kyle Boyer and gave DePauw a 3-0 lead.
The Little Giants took the lead with four in the third, but the Tigers countered in the fourth as Fitzgerald doubled home Boyer and scored after an error on the play. Kyle Callahan's single scored Cameron Macon and pushed DePauw's lead to 6-4.
Barnes extended the lead to 7-4 in the seventh with a single that brought home Nick Nelson.
Wabash forced extra innings with three runs in the seventh and won it in the eighth when Kamden Earley led off with a double, moved to third on Simmers' sacrifice bunt and scored on AJ Reid's sacrifice fly.
Shaw and Fitzgerald each had two of DePauw's nine hits, while Andrew Jumonville and Vassilo each had two of Wabash's nine hits.
Jacob Bishop improved to 1-0 for Wabash with two innings of scoreless relief. Cameron Hawk dropped to 0-2.
DePauw travels to Wittenberg on April 14, for a 1 p.m. NCAC West doubleheader.
