Box Score 2 Granville, Ohio - DePauw wrapped up its series at Denison with a pair of losses by scores of 17-1 and 13-3. The first game counted toward the North Coast Athletic Conference West Division standings as DePauw moved to 12-17 overall and 5-7 in NCAC play, while the Big Red improved to 17-8 overall and 9-3 in divisional play.
In the opener, Denison took control of the game with an eight-run first and scored in five of the six innings. The Tigers' lone run came in the sixth as Cameron Macon led off with a double and stole third. After Nick Nelson walked, Danny Sheehan reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Macon to score.
Six different Tigers collected one hit each, while the Big Red totaled 17 hits with Brian McAuliffe, Will Krushena and Dylan Hunter finishing with three apiece.
Caleb Struewing improved to 3-0, while AJ Waltermann dropped to 0-1.
In the nightcap, DePauw grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first as Charlie Patrick reached second on a two-out error and scored on Kyle Callahan's single.
Denison responded with four in the second and two each in the third and fourth. In the fifth, Jack Fitzgerald was hit by a pitch and pinch-runner Joey Webster advanced to second on Trey Shaw's bunt single. Callahan then delivered a two-run double. The Big Red closed out the scoring with five in the bottom of the fifth.
Callahan had two of the Tigers' three hits, while McAuliffe, Max Lahn, Krushena, Danny Alvarez and Charlie Gleenon had two hits apiece for Denison.
Kenny Lippman improved to 1-1, while Nathan Fackel slipped to 0-3.
DePauw returns to NCAC West Division play on Wednesday, April 28, when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
