Box Score 2 Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw clubbed four homers including three in the second game on the way to a North Coast Athletic Conference West Division doubleheader sweep of Denison by scores of 5-2 and 12-4. The Tigers improved to 12-14 overall and 5-5 in NCAC play, while Denison dropped to 14-8 overall and 7-3 in the division.
In the opener, DePauw took a 2-0 lead in the second as TJ Carney-DeBord singled and moved to third on Danny Sheehan's single. Jack Fitzgerald's ground out plated Carney-DeBord and Sheehan came home after a Denison fielding error.
The Big Red knotted the score in the fourth as they loaded the bases with three walks before Ty Robinson's sacrifice fly scored Brian McAuliffe and Danny Alvarez's single brought home Daniel Spencer.
The Tigers sealed the win in the sixth as Kyle Callahan led off with a single and came home when Charlie Patrick homered to right center. Cameron Macon then singled and later scored on Fitzgerald's sacrifice fly.
Patrick and Nick Nelson each had two of DePauw's nine hits, while the Big Red totaled just two hits.
Joe Runnells improved to 4-3 with the complete-game, two-hitter as he struck out six. Taylor Perrett dropped to 3-2.
In the nightcap, DePauw grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first as it loaded the bases on a single by Trey Shaw, Callahan's walk and Patrick's base hit before Macon hit into a double play that allowed Shaw to score.
DePauw again loaded the bases in the second before Evan Barnes hammered a grand slam to make it 5-0.
McAuliffe's two-run homer in the fourth trimmed the DePauw lead to 5-2, but the Tigers added four more in the fifth. Shaw led off with a homer before Kyle Boyer's bases loaded walk scored Callahan and Sheehan's single scored Patrick and Nelson.
Will Krushena and McAuliffe hit solo homers in the sixth to trim the DePauw lead to 9-4, but the Tigers added three in the sixth as Patrick singled home Callahan before Macon followed with a two-run homer.
Shaw, Patrick and Sheehan each had two of DePauw's nine hits, while McAuliffe had three of Denison's five hits.
Michael Vallone improved to 3-1 and Charlie Fleming slipped to 4-1.
The two teams square off on Saturday with a Noon doubleheader at Denison.
