Box Score 2 Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Wittenberg held off a late DePauw rally in game one and swept the host Tigers by scores of 10-9 and 11-0. DePauw dropped to 10-12 overall and 3-5 in North Coast Athletic Conference West Division play, while Wittenberg improved to 17-5 overall and 6-2 in division play.
In the opener, Wittenberg took a 2-0 lead in the first as Patrick Kenny doubled and scored on Jack Hollinshead's single. Jack Siefert followed with a double that scored Hollinshead.
DePauw grabbed a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the second as Cameron Macon walked before TJ Carney-DeBord and Kyle Boyer followed with singles to load the bases. Jack Lee knocked in a pair with a double, Evan Barnes plated Boyer with a bunt and Trey Shaw singled home Lee.
Wittenberg regained the lead in the third as Hollinshead drove in two with a double with Mason Davis scoring one with a sacrifice fly and Tanner Boros singling home Siefert to make it 6-4.
The visiting Tigers expanded the lead to 10-4 in the fourth as Kenny delivered a two-run single with Siefert driving in Kenny with a sacrifice fly and Hollinshead scoring on an error.
Kyle Callahan's two-run single in the fourth brought the Tigers to within 10-6 and Charlie Patrick's bases-loaded triple in the sixth made it 10-9. DePauw put two runners on in the seventh, but couldn't bring them home.
Kenny had three of Wittenberg's 11 hits, while Hollinshead, Siefert and Boros each added two. Shaw had three of DePauw's 11 hits and Carney-DeBord added a pair.
Joe Horoszko moved to 4-1, while Sam Paddock dropped to 0-2. Tyler Defibaugh collected his first save.
In the nightcap, Wittenberg grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first as Gabe Stacy led off with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Kenny's single. Dylan Jackson drove in Ryan Probst in the second with a single before Hollinshead hammered a grand slam to make it 6-0. Gage Carpenter added an RBI single in the inning and Wittenberg added one in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Macon had two of DePauw's six hits, while Siefert had three of Wittenberg's 15 hits. Stacy, Kenny, Hollinshead and Carpenter each had two hits.
Cameron Hawk dropped to 0-3, while Tyler Griggs improved to 3-0.
DePauw hosts Wabash tomorrow in a Noon doubleheader.
