Box Score Indianapolis, Ind. - DePauw's four-game win streak came to an end at Division I Butler as the host Bulldogs topped the Tigers 16-4. The Tigers dropped to 4-2, while the Bulldogs moved to 1-0 following their season opener.
Butler jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first as Freddie Matos homered to right. That score remained until the bottom of the fourth when, with two outs, a DePauw error opened the door to a 13-run Butler rally.
DePauw collected its first hit in the sixth as Evan Boher led off with a single. Danny Sheehan walked and Trey Shaw's grounder advanced the runners to second and third, respectively. Kyle Callahan's single scored Bohrer and Nick Nelson's base hit plated Sheehan.
The Tigers added two more in the seventh as Cameron Macon led off with a walk and advanced to third on TJ Carney-DeBord's single. Sheehan reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Macon to score before Callahan singled scoring Sheehan.
Callahan had two of DePauw's seven hits and drove in two runs. Dan Harwood had three of Butler's 13 hits.
John MacCauley picked up the win after striking out six in four innings without allowing a hit. Nathan Fackel took the loss and dropped to 0-1.
DePauw hosts Concordia Chicago on Saturday and Sunday in Noon doubleheaders each day.
