Box Score St. Louis, Mo. - Third-ranked WashU scored in five different innings and sent DePauw to a 9-4 defeat. The Tigers moved to 7-6, while the Bears improved to 8-0.
The Bears scored a pair of unearned runs in the first before the Tigers knotted the score in the fourth on Kyle Callahan's RBI single that scored Trey Shaw and Spencer Youngcourt's grounder that plated Callahan.
WashU regained the lead in the fourth on Tim Van Kirk's two-run double before Clayton Miller hit a solo homer in the fifth and a run-scoring double in the seventh. Miller also scored in the seventh on Jack Miller's single.
Callahan drove in Shaw in the eighth with a ground out to cut the Bears' lead to 7-3, but the hosts added two more in th eighth. The Tigers rounded out the scoring in the ninth as TJ Carney-DeBord grounded out to first scoring Cameron Macon.
Macon and Danny Sheehan each had two of DePauw's eight hits, while Van Kirk, Johnny LaMantia and Clayton Miller each had two of the Bears' 11 hits.
Jared Fong moved to 1-0 with five innings of relief, while Ty Sucher dropped to 0-1.
