Tigers Hit Two Slams in Same Inning in Game One Win; Split Twinbill at Ohio Wesleyan

Delaware, Ohio - DePauw homered five times in a 21-0 game-one win at Ohio Wesleyan including a pair of seventh-inning grand slams, but the Battling Bishops earned a split with a 7-6 victory in the nightcap. The Tigers are now 21-12 overall and 7-5 in the NCAC, while the Battling Bishops are 13-21 overall and 5-9 in conference play.

In the opener, the Tigers scored in each of the first four innings in building an 11-0 lead before putting together a 10-run seventh that included grand slams from Spencer Youngcourt and Noah Salasky. Also homering in the win were Evan Barnes with a three-run shot in the third, Kyle Callahan with a two-run homer in the first as well as a solo blast by Salasky in the fourth.

DePauw totaled 18 hits in the win with three each from Salasky, Callahan and Cameron Allen. Nolan Lavender, Youngcourt and Nick Nelson had two hits apiece.

Grant Rademacher improved to 4-2 and limited Ohio Wesleyan to just three hits while striking out five without allowing a walk. Seth Pritchett slipped to 3-4.

Ohio Wesleyan's first runs of the day came in game two as the Battling Bishops scored two in the first and one in the second. The Tigers countered with two in the fourth on an RBI double from Allen and Jackson Williams' run-scoring single.

The Battling Bishops expanded the lead to 7-2 with three in the fifth and one in the sixth. Callahan's two-out single in the seventh closed the gap to 7-3. Jack Omstead brought home two with a single in the ninth and Salasky drew a bases-loaded walk, but the Tigers left the bases loaded as the game ended.

Omstead and Williams each had two of DePauw's 10 hits, while Mitchell Johnson, Cole Antle and Zach Stiteler each had two of Ohio Wesleyan's nine hits.

DePauw starter Nick Casey dropped to 3-3, while Ohio Wesleyan's Chris Punka improved to 2-2 and Canyon McWilliams collected his second save.

The Tigers travel to Wabash tomorrow for a Noon NCAC doubleheader.
