DePauw Splits Doubleheader at Kenyon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Gambier, Ohio - DePauw allowed Kenyon just one hit in the opener in a 2-0 win, but the Lords hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 12th for a 9-7 win in the second game of their North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Tigers are now 15-11 overall and 2-4 in the NCAC, while the Lords are 18-9 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

In the opener, DePauw scored all of the game's runs in the fourth as Spencer Youngcourt led off with a walk, moved to second on TJ Carney-DeBord's sacrifice bunt and to third on Nolan Lavender's single. After Lavender stole second, Evan Barnes delivered a two-run single. Kyle Callahan had DePauw's other hit in the contest.

Grant Rademacher took a no-hitter into the eighth when Brent Henderson led off with a single. Rademacher improved to 3-2 and struck out 13 with Brayden White retiring the side in order in the ninth for his second save. Alex Gow dropped to 2-2 for Kenyon.

In the second game, DePauw scored five in the second with the first two coming on Barnes' double. Nick Nelson doubled home Barnes and later scored when Jackson Williams reached on an error. Williams eventually came home on a Lavender single. Charlie Patrick's fourth-inning solo homer made it 6-0.

Patrick O'Leary put the Lords on the board in the fourth with a three-run homer and Zach Rizzera added a run-scoring grounder to cut the DePauw lead to 6-4.

Carney-DeBord's single in the sixth plated Lavender and extended the Tigers' advantage to 7-4.

Kenyon evened the count in the sixth as Andrew Rabinowitz scored Henderson with a sacrifice fly before Ryan Page knocked in a pair with a triple.

The teams were scoreless over the next five innings until O'Leary was hit by a pitch with one out in the 12th and Matt Contreras followed with a two-run homer.

Carney-DeBord, Youngcourt and Barnes each had two of DePauw's 10 hits. Page, Eric Delrosso, Gow, Contreras and Rabinowitz each had two of Kenyon's 13 hits.

Aaron Miller dropped to 1-2 in relief after pitching the final 5 1/3 innings. Nathan Chandler improved to 3-3 after allowing just two hits and striking out eight over the last six innings.

DePauw returns to action on Tuesday, April 16, with a Noon doubleheader against Wittenberg at Walker Field.
