Tigers Extend Streak to Four

Auburndale, Fla. - DePauw scored in double digits for the second straight game and extended its win streak to four with an 11-1 win over Thomas (Maine) in a game shortened to seven innings due to the run rule. DePauw improved to 11-6, while Thomas dropped to 1-10.

The Tigers grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first as CJ Yoannou scored on a wild pitch before Nolan Lavender and Noah Salasky each drove in one with singles.

Darren Kelly's solo homer in the third trimmed DePauw's lead to 3-1, but the Tigers scored two more in the third on an RBI double by Kyle Callahan and a run-scoring grounder from TJ Carney-DeBord.

Callahan reached on an error in the fourth that allowed Evan Barnes to score to push the Tigers' lead to 6-1. 

The Tigers added five more in the bottom of the sixth as Jason Mundell scored on a wild pitch before Charlie Patrick drove in Barnes with a double. Yoannou's single plated Patrick and Yoannou eventually came home on Salasky's single. Cameron Allen singled home Callahan for the Tigers' final run.

Salasky led DePauw with two of its eight hits, while Kyle Gleason had two of the Terriers' five hits.

Parker Bray improved to 1-1 after striking out five in five innings and Matt George followed with two innings of no-hit relief. Cody Cousins dropped to 0-2 for Thomas.

The two teams square off tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in Winter Haven, Fla.
