DePauw Sweeps Mount St. Joseph for Season's First Two Wins

Cincinnati, Ohio - DePauw totaled 21 hits and allowed just two runs in 18 innings on the way to a doubleheader sweep of Mount St. Joseph by scores of 10-1 and 9-1. The Tigers moved to 2-4 on the season, while the Lions dropped to 0-3.

In the opener, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the second before adding four in the fourth. The Lions' lone run came in the seven before DePauw sealed the win with one in the eighth and four in the ninth.

Noah Salasky had three of the Tigers' 10 hits with Spencer Youngcourt adding a pair. Salasky, Kyle Callahan, Youngcourt and Jason Mundell each drove in a pair. Tyrell Anderson had two of Mount St. Joseph's four hits.

Grant Rademacher improved to 1-1 after striking out seven with no walks in seven innings. Nathan Renner dropped to 0-1.

In the nightcap, the teams each scored once in the second before the Tigers broke the game open with five in the sixth and three in the eighth.

Nolan Lavender collected four hits in five at bats for the Tigers with Youngcourt adding three as the Tigers totaled 11. Five different Lions had one hit apiece.

Nick Casey improved to 1-1 after allowing one run in five innings. Alex Wagner dropped to 0-1 for the Lions.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, March 9, when it faces Manchester in a doubleheader at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis.
