Tigers Collect First NCAC Win in Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Greencastle, Ind. – DePauw split with Oberlin on Saturday with an 8-1 victory in game one and a 6-1 loss in game two as they broke a five game skid and collected their first NCAC win.

In game one, the Tigers led 3-0 heading into the eighth before a five-run inning that was highlighted by a two-run home run from freshman Charlie Patrick, his first at the collegiate level. Nolan Lavender later scored two on a double down the left field line, and Brayden White singled to score him.

The runs secured a win for starter Grant Rademacher, his first of the season as he moves to 1-2. He picked up a quality start after allowing just one hit and striking out five in six innings. Nick Casey picked up his first save after finishing the final three innings.

In game two, it was a five-run ninth from Oberlin that sealed the deal as the teams entered the inning tied 1-1. It spoiled a seven inning, one run performance from starter Tyler Holt.

Tom Giella took the loss. He pitched a clean eighth but could not record an out in the ninth and was responsible for two runs.

Jonathan Azar also could not produce an out as he was tallied for three runs. Spencer Youngcourt finished the inning, allowing just one hit.

Lavender gave DePauw its lone run in the sixth off a sacrifice fly. Oberlin reliever Milo Sklar collected his first win after allowing just one hit in four innings of relief.

DePauw moves to 3-13 overall and 1-3 in NCAC play, while Oberlin goes to 8-16 and 1-5.

The Tigers head to Earlham on Sunday.
