Tigers Total 29 Runs on the Day, Sweep Hiram

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Greencastle, Ind. – DePauw recorded their first sweep of an NCAC opponent this year with 10-3 and 19-6 victories over Hiram on Saturday.

In game one, Grant Rademacher had one of his best outings, pitching a complete game with a career-high 14 strikeouts. He also gave up just one earned run as he moved to 2-3 on the season.

Offensively, the Tigers gave him plenty of support with 13 hits, but most of the damage was done as they flipped a 3-2 deficit with a seven-run bottom of the sixth.

Brayden White had the RBI single to tie the game, and Nolan Lavender had the sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run.

Spencer Youngcourt was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. White, Collin Einertson, CJ Yoannou and Jackson Williams all had two hits and one RBI.

In game two, back-to-back triples from Noah Salasky and Yoannou in the bottom of the first set the tone as DePauw jumped to an early 3-0 lead. In the next inning, a two-run double from Charlie Patrick and an RBI triple from Einertson expanded the lead. Einertson scoring on a wild pitch gave DePauw a 7-0 lead after two innings.

After not recording an extra base hit in game one, nine of DePauw's 17 hits were of that variety. Patrick finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Youngcourt added another two RBI to his total of the day, as did Yoannou, Salasky, Sam Comer and Trenton Schneider.

Tom Giella had a quality start and won his first game of the year as he went six innings of two run baseball.

DePauw is 6-20 overall and 4-8 in the NCAC. Hiram falls to 4-20 and 1-9.

The Tigers will face Webster at 3 p.m. tomorrow in a non-conference contest at home.
