Tigers Drop Third Straight One Run Game

Box Score

Wooster, Ohio – Saturday was an offensive display for both DePauw and Wooster, but it was the seventh-ranked Fighting Scots who defeated DePauw 11-10.

Like in yesterday's 4-3 loss, DePauw again had a situation late in the game with the tying run on third and two outs. Charlie Patrick stepped up with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, but he flied out to right field to end the game.

In the previous inning, DePauw scored two runs to take their first lead of the series. Collin Einertson singled to score two runs with two outs as DePauw took a 10-9 lead.

However, in the bottom of the inning Wooster scored two runs on two singles as Nick Casey (1-3) took the loss for the Tigers. James Usher pitched the final two innings to claim the win for Wooster.

Einertson finished 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored. DePauw collected 11 hits, but Drew Mullarkey's double was DePauw's only extra base hit.

Nolan Lavender was 2-for-4 with three RBI; Noah Salasky went 1-for-3 with three RBI; and Spencer Youngcourt finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.

Starter Tyler Holt lasted just two outs as he was roughed up for five runs. Wooster starter Brian Murray lasted just two innings himself and was responsible for six runs.

This was DePauw's third consecutive game where they have lost by just one run as they fall to 2-12 and 0-2 in the NCAC. Wooster improved to 11-3 and 2-0 in the conference.

DePauw travels to Denison on Wednesday for a doubleheader.
