Tigers Push #7 Scots to the Limit

Wooster, Ohio – DePauw came close to stealing a victory away from seventh-ranked Wooster but fell a run shy in a 4-3 contest on Friday.

In what was both teams' NCAC opener, DePauw starter Grant Rademacher went six innings and gave up four runs, three earned, in the loss. Wooster starter Nanak Saran picked up the win with seven innings of one run baseball. James Usher collected his fourth save of the year.

Wooster's Garrett Crum finished 1-for-4 and did all of his damage in the first with a two-run home run. A throwing error gave Wooster their third run in the third and after trading runs in the sixth, Wooster led 4-1 after seven innings.

DePauw scored two in the eighth behind an RBI single from Noah Salasky and an RBI triple from Nolan Lavender. With the tying run at third with two outs, TJ Carney DeBord grounded out to second. DePauw then went down in order in the ninth.

Of the Tigers' five hits, Salasky had three of them, finishing 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run. Lavender was 1-for-3 with two RBI. The Tigers' other hit came from Charlie Patrick who finished 1-for-3.

Nick Casey relieved Rademacher in the seventh and pitched two scoreless frames.

It was DePauw's fourth straight loss and their second by just one run. They drop to 2-11 and 0-1 in the NCAC and will face Wooster (10-3, 1-0) again at noon Saturday.
