Franklin Stays Undefeated in Shortened Game

Box Score

Franklin, Ind. – Snow shortened DePauw's game at Franklin on Tuesday but the two teams got through enough to call it an official game as Franklin won 15-6 through 5 1/2 innings.

After a strong start that had DePauw in front 6-0, Franklin got one run back in the bottom of the third before scoring six in the fourth and eight in the fifth. Ryan Bixler led off the bottom half of the sixth inning with a triple before the game was called.

Noah Salasky started DePauw's scoring in the first with a two-run single. The Tigers recorded three more runs in the second thanks to a two-run double from Charlie Patrick and a RBI single from Elliot Shebek. Colin Donahue singled home Nolan Lavender in the third to make it a 6-0 game.

DePauw starter Aaron Miller allowed just one run through the first three innings but failed to record an out in the fourth and ended up being responsible for five earned runs. Drew Naumovich hit a 3-run home run, and Miller left a batter later.

Jonathan Azar relieved Miller but Franklin scored another two runs before the inning ended. Azar took the loss as he gave up three runs in 1.2 innings but only one run was earned.

Matt George and Spencer Youngcourt came in afterwards. Both failed to record an out but all six runs they gave up were unearned. The team committed five errors in the game.

Shebek and Donahue both went 2-for-3. Lavender was 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored.

Franklin is now 9-0 overall, while the Tigers fall to 1-6. DePauw returns home Saturday to face Trine.
