Tigers Split Sunday Doubleheader; Thompson Breaks Home Run Record

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Greencastle, Ind. – DePauw and Kenyon split a doubleheader Sunday to conclude their NCAC Crossover series with Kenyon taking game one 8-6 and DePauw winning game two 6-4.

DePauw took the series after Saturday's opening win. They are 29-9 overall and remain in first place of the NCAC West Division at 12-5.

Sunday marked the home finale at Walker Field this season and senior Jack Thompson made it a memorable one. In game one he broke the DePauw single season home run record with his 12th home run on a ball that went just over the right center field fence.

In game two, he did it again with another shot to right center in the seventh inning but this time it proved to be the game-winner and his final at bat at Walker Field.

Both home runs were three run shots. Between both games he finished 3-for-8 with 6 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Sticking with game two, starter Riley Futterknecht picked up the no decision after giving up four runs in six innings. Jack Dillon (3-0) collected the win in one inning of work. Brayden White got DePauw out of a jam and pitched the final 1.1 innings for his first collegiate save.

In game one, DePauw fought back from being down 6-3 to eventually tie the game in the eighth. However, Kenyon got to Nick Horvath (2-2) and scored two in the ninth.

Starter Andrew Quinn went five innings and gave up four earned runs. The Tigers also got three scoreless innings from Grant Rademacher.

Collin Einertson matched Thompson's three RBI by going 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the sixth. Mike Hammel finished 2-for-4 with 1 run scored.

Next, the Tigers await word on when and who they'll play in the NCAC Tournament next weekend.
