Tigers Win By 10 Runs Twice for Saturday Sweep

Greencastle, Ind. -- DePauw cemented their spot atop the North Coast Athletic West Division after a pair of eight inning wins over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, 14-4 in game one and 12-2 in game two.

Jack Thompson homered in both games, moving his season total to 11, tying him for the single season record at DePauw. Between the two games, he finished 5-for-10 with one double and two RBI.

Mike Hammel gave DePauw the win on the mound in game one. He went 5.1 innings and gave up two earned runs. Grant Rademacher and Tom Giella finished the game, allowing just one hit between the two.

DePauw held a 3-2 lead until scoring four in the fifth. Joey Plesac tripled to unload the bases. In the bottom of the sixth, DePauw captured three more runs with a home run to right field from Collin Einertson.

In game two, Andrew Quinn went seven innings to collect the win, giving up just two earned runs. Brayden White pitched the eighth, recording two strikeouts and needing just nine pitches to retire the side.

This time, DePauw jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings and scored five in the fifth to go up 11-1. Plesac came through again with a 2-run single down the left field line in the second inning.

Later, Reid Pittard hit a two-run double in the fifth to score Plesac and Zack Wade. Pittard finished with three RBI in the game.

Ryan Grippo, Thompson, Einertson, Tate Stewart, Elliot Shebek and Wade all had two hits. Grippo had three RBI, and Wade and Plesac each collected a pair.

DePauw improves to 25-6 overall and 8-2 in the West Division. Ohio Wesleyan drops to 12-15 and 4-6.

Both teams meet again Sunday for another doubleheader starting at noon.
