Tigers Collect 18 Hits to Complete Sweep

Box Score

Auburndale, Fla. – DePauw fell behind early but their 18 hits sent them over the top in an 8-3 win over Me.-Farmington on Friday to complete not just the series sweep but also their spring break week in Florida.

They are now 16-4 as they head back up north to prepare for North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Zack Wade gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the top of the second, but DePauw fell into trouble in the third. Jack Norton came on in relief, retired just one batter and was responsible for all three runs scored, which allowed Me.-Farmington (1-6) to go up 3-1.

Aaron Miller got the Tigers out of the inning and pitched the fourth and fifth innings to eventually pick up the win. He gave up just two hits and did not allow an earned run.

In the top of the fourth, DePauw retook the lead for good with RBI hits from Collin Einertson, Ryan Grippo, Jack Thompson and Noah Salasky.

Einertson followed with an RBI triple in the fifth. Reid Pittard recorded a sacrifice bunt for an RBI in the seventh, and Mike Hammel hit a solo home run in the eighth.

Riley Futterknecht followed Miller with three scoreless and Nick Casey pitched the final frame. Danny Farrar started and pitched two scoreless innings for the no decision.

Einertson, Salasky and Grippo each had a three-hit game. Hammel, Noah Lavender and Elliot Shebek recorded two hits each.

DePauw pulled off their third series sweep and finished 6-1 on their spring break trip. They return to action April 8 when they travel to Wittenberg to start NCAC play.
