DePauw Scores 23 Runs and Picks up Two Wins

Auburndale, Fla. – DePauw totaled 23 runs in two seven-inning games and started its spring break trip in Florida with a sweep against Keuka by 14-1 and 9-4 scores.

DePauw came out swinging in game one with a three-run first inning, scoring each run with two outs. They followed that with a four-run third inning and a five-run fifth.

Mike Hammel had himself a game. He started, picked up the win after 3 2/3 innings and gave up no earned runs, and helped himself at the plate going 2-for-2 with a double, home run, two walks and four RBI.

Zack Wade also homered for the Tigers and finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and two runs scored. Also recording a two-hit performance were Reid Pittard, CJ Yoannou, Max Cohen, Joey Plesac and Ryan Grippo.

Collin Einertson had a team-high three hits, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Grippo and Yoannou also recorded two RBI.

Matt George pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, and Jack Norton pitched a scoreless seventh.

In game two, DePauw's offense was more scattered throughout, but a four-run fourth was a highlight.

The Tigers broke open a 2-2 game following a two-run single from Pittard. Pittard later scored on a balk, and Jack Thompson recorded an RBI single to close the fourth.

Pittard finished 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored from atop the lineup. Thompson, Grippo and Elliot Shebek each tallied two hits. Thompson had two RBI and Brayden White brought home a run.

Aaron Miller started and picked up the no decision giving up one run in three innings. Tyler Holt relieved him and took the win after 3 1/3 innings and giving up three earned runs. Nick Casey recorded the final two outs.

DePauw is now 12-3, while Keuka stayed winless at 0-7.
