Tigers Split with Manchester to take Series Win

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Indianapolis, Ind. – DePauw won their second season series after a Sunday split with Manchester with a 3-1 win and a 5-3 loss to improve to 7-2 on the year.

Game one went into extra innings with neither team scoring until the 11th. Manchester put up five runs, which was too much for DePauw to overcome, who scored three thanks to a 3-run home run from Zack Wade.

Tom Giella started the inning, recorded two outs and gave up three earned runs. He was replaced by Jonathan Azar who could not record an out and was tallied for two earned runs after Jack Dillon relieved him and gave up a two-run single. Azar was recorded with the loss.

Andrew Quinn started and pitched a two-hitter through seven innings. C.J. Yoannou went 3-for-5 at the plate with two doubles.

In game two, DePauw scored in the first, third and sixth innings before Nick Horvath pitched two innings of relief to pick up his fourth save of the year.

Riley Futterknecht improved to 2-0 after pitching seven innings and giving up just one earned run.

DePauw had just five hits and did not record an RBI. They scored their runs via a wild pitch, a throwing error and a fielding error.

Jack Thompson, Mike Hammel and Yoannou all recorded a double, and Thompson was the lone Tiger to record a multi-hit game going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Next weekend the Tigers will have their home opener in a three-game series against Rockford with two games on Saturday and another on Sunday. Saturday's action begins at noon.
