Delaware, Ohio – Runs came aplenty for DePauw in an 11-8 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday as they salvaged a series split after dropping a 9-0 contest earlier in the day.

In the win, the Tigers rallied from an 8-3 deficit with a six run seventh inning that put them up 9-8. Two more insurance runs in the seventh assured them the win.

With 14 hits on the day, the Tigers were led by a 4-for-5 performance from Tate Stewart. He hit two doubles and recorded two RBI. Lucas Italiano and Jack Thompson also had a multi-hit game as Thompson went 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Italiano was 2-for-7 with a RBI.

Thompson started the scoring in the seventh with a single up the middle, scoring Ryan Grippo. Italiano brought home another after a fielder's choice.

Stewart then doubled to bring home two more runs before Grippo came back to the plate and reached on an error, scoring another.

Andrew Quinn started but picked up the no decision in four innings or work. Nick Horvath got the win after pitching two innings and giving up two earned runs. Sam Comer earned the three-inning save, allowing just two hits, two walks and striking out one.

In game one, Ohio Wesleyan jumped to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning and only expanded its lead to nine with another four run inning in the sixth. DePauw had just five hits in the game, including a 2-for-2 game from Thompson.

Mike Hammel took the loss. He pitched five innings and gave up five earned runs.

DePauw is now 13-15 overall and 4-8 in the NCAC West. Ohio Wesleyan moves to 17-8 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

The Tigers are back in action Friday when they host Iowa Wesleyan.
