Box Score Tucson, Ariz. - DePauw came all the way back from a seven-run deficit, but Hamline scored sixth in the eighth and handed the Tigers a 15-10 loss. The Tigers dropped to 7-5, while the Pipers improved to 7-7.
The teams played two scoreless innings before Hamline broke through with five in the third. The Tigers countered with two in the bottom of the third as Connor Einertson scored on a wild pitch and Reid Pittard drove home Zack Wade with a single.
The Pipers extended the lead to 9-2 in the fourth with four runs on five hits. DePauw began its comeback in the fifth as Jack Thompson doubled home Pittard. The Tigers knotted the score at 9-9 with six runs in the seventh.
Six straight batters reached before an out was made with Lucas Italiano driving in two with a single and Mike Hammel delivering a two-run double. Connor Einertson's single scored Hammel and tied the contest.
Hamline pounded out seven hits in the eighth and scored six time to take a 15-9 advantage. DePauw added an unearned run in the ninth.
DePauw totaled 12 hits led by two each from Thompson, Hammel, Collin Einertson and Wade. Jacob Picht paced Hamline with four of its 22 hits, while Collin Olstad, Domenic Dandrea, Tyler Summers and Andy Sammon followed with three apiece. Mitch Benson, Nick Kukurich and Nolan Schoonveld each totaled two hits.
Aaron Stoneberg (3-0) picked up the win with three innings of relief work and allowed just one unearned run. Aaron Miller dropped to 0-1 for DePauw.
DePauw wraps up its Arizona trip tomorrow with a 10 a.m. PST doubleheader against Gustavus Adolphus.
